Rep. Niemerg and House Members Continue Push for Investigation of 36 Deaths at LaSalle Veterans’ Home

State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) and twenty-five of his Republican colleagues in the Illinois House sent a letter this morning to Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul requesting, once again, for an investigation into the deaths of 36 Illinois heroes in the state’s care.

“This scandal has already cost one director her job at the Department of Veterans Affairs, and we need to know the extent of the negligent activities at the LaSalle Veterans’ Home and by whom,” said Rep. Adam Niemerg. “The findings of an investigation by the Attorney General are needed so that we can correct operating procedures and if necessary, change the laws on the policies that cover the care of our veterans, and bring criminal charges against those ultimately responsible if need be.”

The original request for an investigation was made May 11 of this year with no response to date. Attorney General Kwame Raoul is requested to advise Rep. Niemerg and the other legislators what his position is and not continue stone-walling the issue.
