Congratulations to Mayor David Courtney and the City of Lawrenceville for officially taking ownership of the Illinois National Guard Armory on September 27, 2023 from the State of Illinois Department of Military Affairs. This new asset for the City of Lawrenceville can be utilized for community activities and economic development for many years to come. (You may watch the ceremony at the video below.)

In addition to the ceremonial key presented, Adjutant General Richard Neely present the actual working key to the National Guard Armory to Lawrenceville Mayor David Courtney.
Retired Illinois Army National Guard member John Howard who attended the Transition Ceremony, served as the Armory Administrator in 1962.
Parkside Elementary School 4th and 5th Grade students participated in the Armory Transfer Ceremony by leading the public in the Pledge of Allegiance.
