Rep. Niemerg to Hold Telephone Town Hall June 12

Constituents Able to Discuss Legislative Session & State Budget

–State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) is hosting a telephone town hall event with State Rep. Blaine Wilhour on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 beginning at 6:00 PM. The focus of the town hall will be a recap of the recent legislative session and the state budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2025.

“With such a large district, my telephone town halls make it easy for people to participate and give me their opinions and feedback directly on the issues that affect their families and businesses,” said Rep. Niemerg, a member of the Appropriations – General Services Committee. “The joint town hall with Rep. Wilhour in the neighboring district allows for both of us to reach more constituents with similar concerns and interests such as agricultural topics, economic development, and defending constitutional rights.”

Niemerg points out that of nearly 12,000 pieces of legislation filed during this 103rd General Assembly (2023-24), over 450 bills are going to the Governor for his signature at this time. If he vetoes any of them, they will come back to the General Assembly in the Fall Veto Session to potentially override the vetoes.

“All of the issues that come up in the General Assembly impact the people of Illinois, from public safety to taxes,” added Rep. Niemerg. “I always ask who does it help, and who does it hurt when a policy change comes up, and especially consider if it is something the taxpayers of Illinois can afford. I encourage everyone to join me on June 12 at 6:00 p.m. by calling 217-336-5711.”
