State Representative Adam Niemerg says the effort to change the Illinois flag is a blatant attempt to infuse far-left ideology onto the state’s flag and he is calling on Illinois citizens to join him in opposing the redesign efforts.
Niemerg said “In and of itself, the idea of a new flag is not necessarily a terrible idea. However, the real purpose behind this effort is not to elevate Illinois’ history but rather to use the flag to advance the far left’s political ideology.”
Upon signing the flag redesign legislation, Senate Bill 1818, into law, Governor JB Pritzker stated, “Throughout our 205-year history, Illinois has boasted two official state flags; and it may be time we create a new one that exemplifies the values of our great state.”
“Will we highlight the Governor’s efforts to partner with Chinese-owned companies? Or will the flag become a state-sponsored tribute to the Pride flag? We need patriotic citizens to take a stand against this clear attempt to rebrand our state according to leftist ideology,” Niemerg said.
To help fight the proposed flag re-design, Rep. Niemerg has launched a petition drive that people may register their support to “Save Our State Flag” by signing the petition HERE.
“I urge everyone to sign the petition and oppose the effort to redesign our flag,” Niemerg said. “It is time for Illinois Patriots to step up and Save Our Flag.
