‘Medicare 101’ Seminar Helps Many Families in Champaign & Vermilion Counties

State Representatives Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) and Brandun Schweizer (R-Danville) hosted a program for area residents looking to learn about and receive updates to the Medicare program available to those who qualify in Illinois. The program was held at the Georgetown Fair Banquet & Convention Center at the Fairgrounds in Vermilion County.

“Thank you to the Department on Aging for providing important information on who qualifies for benefits,” commented Rep. Niemerg. “Many seniors are struggling with recent inflationary costs for healthcare coverage and every-day living expenses and knowing the guidelines and recent changes on who may qualify for Medicare assistance is helpful to a growing number of Illinois families.”

Kimberlee Poole with the Illinois Department on Aging’s (IDOA) Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) presented the seminar and answered questions about the qualifications and changes to the Medicare program.

For those who missed the seminar, informational booklets are available by contacting Rep. Niemerg’s district office at 217-813-6036 or online at RepNiemerg.com.
