State Rep. Adam Niemerg welcomed one hundred children and adults to his 3rd Annual Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday at Sam Parr Lake in Newton.
“Thank you to all of the parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles who brought their youngsters out to enjoy the great outdoors at one of our premier fishing spots in Illinois at Sam Parr Lake,” said Niemerg. “This is a great event that we partner with IDNR (Illinois Department of Natural Resources) to get kids involved with the growing sport of fishing, get some fresh air, and take a break from all of the video games, TV, and computer time.”
“I am very pleased with the turnout this year. We continue to grow, and the kids have a fun time catching a fish for the first time or getting to fish again in a great location in Jasper County,” Niemerg added.
