Niemerg Tours Lawrenceville Sewage Treatment Facility; Updated on IEPA Deficiencies

I recently had the opportunity to tour the Lawrenceville City sewage treatment facility. My office received notification that the Illinois EPA issued deficiencies within the department. I have reviewed these deficiencies and spoken with the Illinois EPA and the city.

There are several issues within the plant that required attention; these include additional bacteria for the breakdown of matter within the operational schreiber, the repairs to a non-operational schreiber, and repair of the bulk and press system.

Each issue has been addressed, or an action plan under the direct supervision of the Illinois EPA has been implemented per the Illinois EPA operational guidelines.

I will continue to monitor ongoing progress with the Illinois EPA and the City of Lawrenceville to ensure compliance.

Thank you to everyone who called and notified me of this situation, and to all who wish to take corrective action to remediate these issues.
