Niemerg Votes NO on Pritzker’s $56 Billion Budget; Largest in Illinois History

Springfield, IL… State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) continued his fight for transparency and accountability in state government spending by voting NO on the Fiscal Year 2027 state budget. The $55.9 billion spending plan is the largest budget in Illinois history and includes $800 million dollars in taxes and fees increases, $410 million in spending on programs for illegal immigrants, hundreds of millions in Democrat pork projects, and is capped off with a pay raise for politicians.

“It’s become crystal clear that Governor Pritzker does not care about Illinois taxpayers. Year after year, he signs budgets that spend more, tax more, and asks working families and job creators to carry an even heavier burden. Since taking office, Governor Pritzker has overseen the largest budgets, the highest spending, and some of the highest tax burdens in the nation. I voted no.”
