4th Annual FREE Kids Fishing Derby Set for July 25 at Sam Parr Lake

Dieterich, IL… State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) is hosting his 4th Annual FREE Kids Fishing Derby for children ages 4 to 15 (no fishing license is required for participating children). The event will be held at the White Oak Shelter at the Sam Parr State Fish & Wildlife Area, located on Route 33 north of Newton.

“I am excited to once again host this popular event for families at Sam Parr Lake in my district,” said Niemerg. “Parents, grandparents, and other relatives bring their children out for some fun and fresh air while getting away from computers, TV screens, and other electronics to learn how to fish for the first time. Many also enjoy competing for trophies for the ‘Biggest Fish’ and ‘Most Fish’ caught that day.”

The event runs from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. and will include information about water safety, how to bait a hook, and how to reel in a fish. In addition to awards for the biggest fish and most fish caught, there will also be drawings for other prizes.

Participants should enter the Sam Parr State Fish & Wildlife Area from Route 33 and proceed to the White Oak Shelter after the second right turn. Follow the Fishing Derby signs.

Constituents may contact Rep. Niemerg’s district office at (217) 813-6036 or visit RepNiemerg.com with any questions.
