State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich), made the following statement this morning upon learning that the Governor signed Senate Bill 2412:
“This heavy-handed muscling through of a change in Illinois election law to stop competition in races for the Illinois House and Illinois Senate is election interference plain and simple. The slating process is under way, and this will deliberately eliminate competition for the majority party. If eliminating the rights of parties to slate candidates is such a good idea, why not apply it to all elections of all positions? Why do it in the middle of the process? This is wrong and a blatant move to eliminate competition by the majority party to keep power.”
